Officially graduated from the University of Exeter this summer with a First Class degree in Psychology!!!!!! Pretty cool to get a full page in the Graduation brochure this year aswell 🤪🤪 So incredibly grateful to all of the people that have made it possible to balance my academics during an Olympic campaign. I’ve learnt so much along the way being a student-athlete and it really would not have been possible without the amazing support of @uoeperformancesport and @britishsailing Shoutout also to my family and friends for all the emotional support through the rollercoaster of competing, taking exams, doing the Olympic trials and completing my dissertation!! Au revoir Marseille 🥺🥺 We just wrapped up the final training camp in Marseille ahead of the Olympic Games. It’s crazy to think this has been home for me for the last 3 summers. I really have loved every minute and every inch of this place. Looking back on all the memories of Marseille it’s so cool to see the progression over the years. These hard hours spent on and off the water are starting to really pay off and I’m excited for what the new cycle has in store. Thank you to @hannahsnellgrovesailing for including me in your Olympic journey this summer. It’s been an amazing insight into the build up to the Games whilst training and competing against all the best girls in the world. 9th at the French Olympic Week!!!! Super happy to be back in a medal race this week off the back of Palma. Gutted it was too windy today to actually do the medal race 😅 It’s certainly been a long and cold week both on and off the water. A capsize in race 2 left me with a deep discard from the get go and kept me a bit too reserved on the start line this week. But I felt really happy with my speed and proud to finish the week with a race win!! That was probably the last major regatta for a while now with the Games fast approaching. Sad that the racing season is coming to a close but looking forward to making the most of some solid training in Marseille this summer. 🥉 at @trofeosofia !!!! Wowowow. Over the last year I’ve watched many of our medal races from the sidelines and I can’t even begin to describe how excited I was to finally be in and amongst it. And then to cross the finish line with a medal, I just couldn’t believe it!! This week has meant the world to me, proving to myself that I’m capable of being right at the front of our incredibly competitive fleet. And to do it at an iconic event like this in the Olympic year feels even more special. 16th at the 2024 World Champs 🐠 A week of many emotions. Super stoked to have been battling out in the top 10 for most of the week. Going into the final day in 7th was such a cool feeling! exciting new upgrade!!! 🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️ The new Aluminium Bullseye Fairlead has been developed and tested by @southeast_sailboats and it has just been made class legal. Never thought I’d be so excited over a boat block but here we are 😅 I always find myself having to replace plastic fairleads to try and stop my kicker secondary line from wearing after only a week of sailing. I know many of my fellow competitors all face the same issue. A massive thank you to Max for coming up with a solution! He’s gone above and beyond to create and push for this upgrade. This small and easy fitting change will make a difference to sailing performance by maximising rigging performance. 14th at the French Olympic Week!!! 🥐 It’s been great to be back in Hyères since we had the Euros here back in November. It sure is a challenging venue with all the extremes this week from 4 to 40 knots which has been epic. The last six months have been challenging balancing both my final year of University and at the same time focusing on campaigning towards Paris 2024. But I am absolutely loving being able to do both. 1st World Cup of the Year ✅ Although it wasn’t exactly the week I was hoping for I really enjoyed being back racing against everybody (even if my face may not say it)!! I really struggled to get off the start line well the first few days but managed to progress with that quickly as the week went on. The depth of the fleet is so amazing you really can’t afford even the tiniest of mistakes when racing! A change of vessel this weekend!! ⛵️⛵️ Had a really fun time match racing in an Elliott this weekend with some of the @exetersailing girls! It was our first time in the boat and match racing so we learned loads together over the weekend. I was really happy to have gained some experience in a new discipline - it’s a great way to learn new skills that are actually very applicable for me back in the ILCA. It was also really cool to do an all Women’s Match Racing event and loved to see so many of us out there pushing each other. Thank you to everyone that made the weekend possible! A little reflection on the Europeans!! 🌊🌊 Felt super happy to be nominated by the British Sailing Team as the Breakthrough Regatta Performance of the year last week. It really was a special week for me. After feeling disappointed with my sailing at the Worlds I felt like I made the most of learning from those mistakes. The week was all about getting off the start line which for me is such a great improvement from last year where my success rate was not even 10% over a regatta! It was also so exciting to have @hannah_gbradial and @daisycollingridge up at the top too. We push each other hard in training and are constantly bouncing off each other to make improvements in our sailing. Thank you @james_gray_coach for helping us create such a great squad environment. Steaming into the European Champs tomorrow like….🏎️🏎️ Been a fun few days training prior to the Europeans here in Hyères with plenty of wind and waves!! Thanks @james_gray_coach for all the hiking encouragement 😅 Our kit will now be out in Europe for the next couple of months. So a big thank you to @southeast_sailboats for the constant great support in ensuring I have access to amazing rigging for our stint out in Europe. Also a thank you to @sailingfastuk who have helped provide me with a great boat to take away with me! Finished up 24th at the Worlds this week 🤠 Feeling some mixed emotions about the week. Not quite the result I wanted but still saw some progress. I was super happy to bag a 3rd during finals racing in what’s got to be the toughest fleet I’ve ever raced in! It’s also definitely one of the most mentally challenging weeks I’ve sailed with 6 hour days to get all the racing in. Lots to learn from the week as always and great to just be getting more and more racing experience. Also nice that the Europeans are just around the corner to iron out some of the mistakes from this week 😅 Thank you as always to everyone for their amazing support!! 1st term of 2nd year at Exeter Uni all done and managed to get some BUCS points along the way!! We had the BUCS Fleet Racing Champs just before I headed out to Oman where I finished 3rd in the ILCA Fleet and 1st Radial. We also managed to win 1st Uni for the Women at Fleets!! 15th in the World!!!! 😊💦💦 Not my finest final day of racing but so so so happy with my overall sailing this week. Couldn’t be happier finishing off 2021 with a 15th at my first ever ILCA 6 Senior World Championships! After getting 2 BFDs at my final shot at the Under 21 Worlds this summer I think I’ve become a bit too line shy. But anyway that’s a great thing to keep working on over the winter season! Unfortunately the UK isn’t living up to the stunning cycling conditions we’ve had abroad so this month I’ll be doing some more running as it gets darker and colder!! I’ll be joining @exetersailing in taking part in Move for Movember where I’ll cover at least 60km of running over the month for the 60 men we lose to suicide each hour, every hour across the world. I completed my first 10km for the month today and already have picked up a few blisters but excited to keep it going! Under 21 Worlds complete and finished up in 13th overall ⛵️💦 Certainly not the week or result I was hoping for with an incredible amount of ups and downs. Feeling very frustrated with myself for getting 2 Black Flags with only one discard for the week. There’s no excuse for it and can’t quite believe I let a mistake like this ruin my week and shot at the Podium. It’s a brutal and massive lesson I need to learn from and take forward to the Senior fleet. I felt confident in my speed around the course and in many of the races I was nailing decisions around the race track. Happy to come away with some consistent results at the very front of the fleet and many positives to be taken into Senior racing this Autumn. Thank you so much to my coach @james_gray_coach and teammates in Poland and at home who gave me an amazing amount of support before and during this event. Thank you also to @southeast_sailboats and @daniel.mihelic.7 for ensuring I had World Class equipment for the week!
